Zedong Mao

Mao Zedong was a Chinese revolutionary leader and the founder of the Peoples Republic of China. As the head of the Chinese Communist Party he led the country for nearly three decades implementing a series of political economic and social reforms. Among his major initiatives were the Great Leap Forward which aimed to accelerate industrialization and the Cultural Revolution a movement to eliminate counterrevolutionary elements that caused significant instability. His government profoundly transformed China consolidating communist rule. Despite criticism his influence on Chinese history remains undeniable and he continues to be a figure of both reverence and debate.
