If reading the synopsis got you interested in reading Molester Man read it before I set expectations. It certainly surprised me.
If you need further convincing hopefully I can give you the push.
Molester Man is a unique romcom. It feels incredibly grounded which is of course a consequence of it being based on a real 2ch thread from the 2000s. This is a vital part of this story coming up time and time again as the protagonist reports his experiences to internet strangers while also playing an important part as context for the reader.
By virtue of being based on the experiences of a real nerd on the internet the story feels incredibly real.
Apart from moments where the author has fun writing the comedy the struggles that Molester Man and the cast face feel entirely grounded and thats what makes the character development feel amazing to watch nothing truly insane happens to Molester Man so his growth is subtle throughout the story but certainly noticable when hes put into a stressful situation.
The manga presents its story pretty well although suffering from some amateurish paneling and notthegreatest artstyle though I personally think these things add a lot of charm to it. Whether you like it is up to you I suppose.

The art feels like doodles in a notebook which helps sell the feeling of someone telling you a story while the text puts a lot of focus on the contents of the original thread. The names of the characters are also simple made up placeholder names that the Molester Man from the thread used instead of their IRL names love that Miss Understanding is an english exclusive pun. These factors combined with the context of it being a real story from 2ch really emulate the feeling of actually lurking in the thread. It gets you invested in the story and its characters insanely well making Molester Man an exceptional manga in this regard. I felt genuine stress reading through certain scenes. Cant elaborate without spoilers though.
The comedy in Molester Man falls into a similar situation as its artstyle youll either love it or not really like it. Its filled with references jokes from early 2000s japanese internet and your usual horny student stuff. Do keep in mind a lot of those jokes were written directly by the guy making the thread though. I personally liked it a lot however I can definitely see someone not enjoying it as much. If youve read Onani Master Kurosawa its pretty similar in the delivery of its comedy due to having the same artist. I do think that even if you dont enjoy Molester Mans humor its still worth reading to see his struggles.
Molester Man is an amazing story about the growth of a man and friends around him all caused by a misunderstanding on the street. Gets serious when it needs to while staying enjoyable as a comedy manga. Highly recommend.
