What I thought was just gonna be another average anime turned out to have a lot more heart. It has real depth about life finding your purpose falling in love and dealing with how people treat you differently for things you cannot control. 420https://giffiles.alphacoders.com/126/126674.gif The overall vibe of the show is pretty warm and cozy. The visuals are this mix of watercolor and your normal anime style but it still looks and feels so beautiful. It is definitely more slice of life at its core but dont get me wrong there is still plenty of romance action and comedy mixed in. It is calm adventurous romantic and fun all at once. The tone shifts feel natural and it keeps you wanting to see where things go next without feeling rushed or heavy. 820https://64.media.tumblr.com/245752b93dde9a83d0c9d3a10a4a82fe/90b187617b33dcf37d/s1280x1920/937dcbd15df91c06737e9013814598df01181c6c.gif The story mainly follows Shirayuki an independent girl born with rare red hair and Zen a prince trying to figure out his place in a world that expects a lot from him. Both of them are written with so much care and their growth feels real. Shirayuki deals with discrimination based on her class and looks not because of anything she did but just for being herself and the show handles that with a lot of grace. There is a beautiful moment where she says When I look to the future I listen to dreams echoing in my heart. I long for the days when I am not the only one who can hear them. It perfectly captures that feeling of quietly hoping for a world that will meet you halfway. 420https://i.pin.com/originals/7c/25/44/7c25443b7edb05de142874ef72b17f8f.gif One thing I really loved about this anime was how the people around them grow too. Obi and Raji especially ended up being some of my favorite characters. Their personal development comes almost directly from meeting Shirayuki and Zen and it ties into one of the bigger philosophies of the show. You are who you surround yourself with. If you want to grow you need to be around people who are chasing dreams too. There is a line that stuck with me At some point in all of our lives we long for a genuine connection When we find someone who speaks to our heart we hold onto them. And that is exactly what so many characters in the show are searching for and experiencing. 420https://giffiles.alphacoders.com/126/126711.gif The anime also has this way of touching on the passage of time without making it feel depressing. It talks about how things change and how nothing ever stays exactly the same but still finds hope in that. As Zen says Time marches on days months seasons change. But there are things I can count on to never waver. There are people I trust who will stay faithfully by my side. It is a simple idea but the show makes it feel real and comforting in a way that hits harder than you would expect. 550https://giffiles.alphacoders.com/126/126915.gif The one small issue with the show is that it kind of feels like a long beautiful build up with no giant climax. It is more about the journey than about reaching some big final destination. But honestly I did not mind too much. Snow White with the Red Hair feels more like one long connected story rather than two separate seasons. Most shows either dip or peak when they get a second season but here Season 2 doubled down on everything that made Season 1 great. No major quality drop no weird tone change. It is just one great experience from start to finish. The final quote from the last episode really sums up the whole theme and vibe of the whole series. You should hold onto whatever you can if there is nothing to lose by having it. It is a simple thought but it says everything about how the characters approach their futures their relationships and their dreams. So yeah this review is really for the series as a whole not just Season 2. And honestly I would one hundred percent recommend it especially if you liked The Apothecary Diaries Violet Evergarden or just want something medieval heartfelt and comforting. It is one of those shows that stays with you way longer than you expect.I was really surprised at how much i enjoyed watching this anime. I has definitely made a place in my highly recommended and has made its place in my bluray collection.
