The English title for this show is not a great translation for the original title means something like the wings of each character which better captures what this season is all about. Instead of shuffling through disposable villain of the week filler plots the series settles into compact multiepisode arcs that actually explore who these characters really are deep inside. 520https://i.ur.com/tAu5GKT.jpeg Right off the start we get Sayako a recurring villain from season 1 that kept getting defeated for not much more than comedic effect. Here she shows up in a few consecutive episodes with some great emotional development and thats the end of her no frills. Where Belldandy acts by gentle accommodation Peorth pushes by open seduction and directness. Shes a mysterious senpai of the automotive club back to check up on their club activities or so she claims. If you thought the threewheel rally car was cheap in season 1 this time we get a race with even cheaper vehicles yet the episode was better because obviously its about the characters and not the horsepower. 520https://i.ur.com/ACsZyOZ.jpeg An evil plot physically separates Urd into her pure goddess and demon selves which is both hilarious and a great window into who she really is. I love this arc because we are all Urd nobody is pure good and just like her how we choose to confront our dark side is an important part of who we are. 520https://i.ur.com/pVWYtFa.jpeg Yes not even Belldandy is 100 good we already know from season 1 that she can be jealous if other women get close to Keiichi but that was mostly played as comedy. As ridiculous as this sounds the goddess of invention and technology cant ride bicycles and she must learn this like any regular kid. Firstly it just synergizes with the theme of the entire series the importance of basic human experience regardless of what powers are at your disposal. But also we get a great exploration into angels basically the goddess Stand they are what give the goddess most of their magical powers. 520https://i.ur.com/UXEPbJA.jpeg We get to see how Skuld develops her angel plus great lore on how they work. This is where I began to realize that the goddesses are actually just regular people. How? You might ask my girlfriend cant transform into Ultra Instinct form cant teleport at will nor can she instantly get ready with a magic spell. True but you see it is revealed that the angles are literal manifestations of love Skuld doesnt get hers because she hasnt been in love. Love is the only super power possessed by the goddesses which is another way of saying they dont actually have any super powers what you see in the show are simply dramatic exaggerations. It is admittedly not very profound or creative to say love can surpass limitations but most important messages are like that. If you simply ask people hey is war good? is hatred good? The answer will be obvious everybody knows. But its one thing to say war is bad its another to watch Attack On Titan or to play The Last of Us Part II. Its like we all knew studying hard is better than not studying but if you do actually study hard you probably have experienced something beyond just verbal agreement. Sure your loved one is not Belldandy is not as perfect as she is cant do many of the things she can doesnt accommodate for all of your wishes isnt as good looking etc. But hopefully they do share their greatest source of power and that is love. 320https://i.ur.com/WbVKf8p.png bonus points for Belldandy Urd and Skuld btw if you now read the title again instead of wings or flights maybe what it really refers to is angles or love.
