Go For It Nakamura is one of the first boys love manga I have ever read the book is written very similar to a comedic romance novel that is with a boy and a girl. It shows the doubt obsession and feelings Nakamura has towards Hirose in a very relatable way. Something Im sure we all have questioned when we like someone is the idea that maybe were making the relationship more than it is in our heads. Nakamura faces these same conflicts and questions throughout the manga. The jokes can be pretty funny they hit some pretty funny one in the beginning Nakamuras expressions are always fun to see and makes certain jokes more funny than they probably are. The drawing while maybe not seeming very grand is pretty good and has a lot of character. The characters are all really distinct and have very personable expression or traits. Some of the panels are also utilized well to show the comedy or make gags which is nice. The paneling is neat and works in a way that is simple to follow through the whole story. The faults I mainly have with the manga is its very short and doesnt build up the story to anything more than a simple crush. Its also not the most unique piece out there feels like it treads on many similar topics or ideas of manga in this genre. Nakamura is a fun character that really makes this book what it is relatable and personable he hides his interest and also his sexuality to an extent to keep himself from being embarrassed or looked down upon. Whenever we peer into Nakamuras thoughts is more of the interesting part of the manga more than what is really happening around him. Hirose the love interest is written ambiguous in what he thinks of Nakamura at times but we later learn he has a fond view of him probably not romantic but as a friend. There is not really that much romance in this book its more comedy and slice of life which I think works somewhat in its favor differing it from others. A problem I have with a lot of boys love manga is it can feel a little typical and uninspired in its writing. This feels different enough to really stand out among them. . The conclusion that they end up as friends is nice and satisfactory. Although I felt like this could have been more than it was especially as the final chapter was really nice and a little more thematic than the other parts of the manga teasing me. Will Hirose ever think of Nakamura in a romantic way probably not but this manga is more about Nakamura being true to who he is and not shying away from being himself. This isnt a deeply complex personal journey or a riveting tale of a story but it is a nice fresh breath of simple cute crush. Strong 6.
