Wonderful Precure The Movie An Epic Adventure in the Game World is the 33rd film of the franchise and the only one that features the Wonderful Precure as the absolute protagonists. Its one of the series I had the chance to follow weekly with pleasure which is why it made me happy to see those characters again after months. After watching the recent All Stars this film seemed to me of incredible quality. I even find it quite in line with the main seriesnot vaguely sosince it talks about love for animals. Added to this is the video game component which I hope is a teaser for the future. It definitely could have been handled better but I didnt mind it at all and I accept that it had a light tone even though there could have been more obstacles. I loved the reference of Wonderful/Nyammy imitating the poses of Black/White. Using the endings as part of the soundtrack was also a nice idea which allowed us to see Yuki dancing with a smile and getting embarrassed in front of Komugi. Mofurun randomly defeating everyone is another little gem. In general I considered the game world a good way to entertain without having to make the Precure fight. Regarding Daifuku I went wild when I heard him speak with Gojos arrogant voice from JJKit suits him and aligns with what Komugi said in an episode. He also has a similar personality to his and got me hyped when he promised Satoru that he would protect Iroha for him. However considering how much his human form and the duos transformations were promoted back when the film came out I expected to see more of them especially since I already found it strange that they didnt become Precure in the main series excluding the finale. Overall I would have liked to see more interaction between Satoru and Daifuku since the former always showed the desire to talk to him. If I had to keep the same plot I would have at least made the bunny take part in the games together with the other two animals. In any case the scene in which Yuki shows him he didnt transform using a mirror was fun. I appreciated that they stayed quite connected to the main series citing the GaruGaru. Also MeyMey appears too though it felt strange that Niko didnt say anything about the events. The past Precure have a really minimal role and interactions are very few. However at least they allowed us to see some very brief battles albeit of good quality. Now speaking of the original characters Natsuki is the one I liked the most. Sure I think she shouldve had more scenes but her flashback struck and moved me showing how deeply she was attached to that tanuki. Ponta and Pokota on the other hand are quite empty and inconsistent as they even change sides from one moment to the next. Finally Mujina didnt displease me as an antagonist. He well represents a character who just wants someones closeness and for that reason he kidnaps humans so people like Natsuki. Im not entirely sure how he became a wolf in the outside world but oh well. I was surprised to see a jump scare from him actually done well. His death was moving. My favorite scene is the one where Komugi ends up in the void and tries to escape it in every way retracing different moments he lived with Iroha Mujina tries to sway him to his side saying hell let him live forever with his friend but Komugi naively says that theyll grow old together as grandmas And then I think back to episode 44 of Wonderful Precure and I suffer a lot because of those naive words of his.
