Spoiler Warning
This is a perfect example of why not every idea deserves an adaptation.
I asked for one of the worstwritten mangas out there and now I can confidently say this belongs right in that category.
Where do I even begin? Theres not a trace of decent writing to be found here.
But Im here to find value in trash so lets start with the positives.
Well there arent many. The author accidentally gave the princess character a hint of meaningful writing. To explain simply Cel the third princess is an extremely unrealistic character seemingly written to fulfill the authors personal fantasies. Shes obsessed with a stranger constantly crying for validation ignorant emotionally dull and wastes all her time and resources on a guy shes only known for a few panels. Yes all of these could technically be considered character flaws which might add a tiny layer of depthbut theyre completely irrelevant in the face of how poorly everything else is written.
Thats it for the positives.
Now onto the bad writing.
Theres an old saying: a good book tells you about its characters a bad one tells you about its author. This manga clearly leans toward the latter.
1. Lack of Common Sense:
The authors understanding of logic or basic cause and effect is nonexistent. The protagonist dies seven times but still doesnt try to avoid death or seek a peaceful life. Hes supposedly a 36yearold with 21 years of combat experience yet still needs to be taught the basics of fighting. Then theres the kingwho looks like hes 90randomly being told the protagonist has died seven times and returned each time. Instead of asking questions the king just showers him with gifts. All of this is portrayed as normal while readers are left wondering why this ridiculous exposition was even necessary. And thats just scratching the surface of mangas nonsense.
2. Random Naming:
The names feel completely disconnected from the world or setting. Its as if the author searched for coolsounding names online and slapped them onto characters without thinking about context or consistency. None of them fit the worldbuilding.
3. Fetish Fantasy Writing:
This manga is clearly a selfinsert fantasy. One moment the protagonist is talking about his backstory in the middle of the street and suddenly a princess overhears him and decides to be his teammate. She starts crying for his validation after knowing him for two pages. Then she builds a giant coliseum invites the king showers him with equipment money status and flirting teaches him basic skills or anything that gives protagonist success and glorifies his every decision no matter how stupid. Its absurd. Its like the author wants a rich powerful person to enter their life and take care of everything for them. The wishfulfillment here is off the charts.
4. Flat Characters:
Not a single character is wellwritten. Some have vague motivations but the author never develops them. Every character exists solely to praise the protagonist and do favors for him. Most are painfully onedimensional unless the story needs someone to serve the leads progression. Seriously author need to go out and see peoples can have perspectives and they dont spend their entire life talking about or glorifying the person they dont like. And women can be equally stubborn as man and not corbyn copy of Asian modesty rules.
5. Broken WorldBuilding:
The magic system is essentially anything goes. There are no rules no logic and no real explanations for how major things worklike how the protagonist keeps coming back to life after dying. Its all nonsense.
6. Art Quality:
The artwork is basic and needs serious improvement especially on faces and necks.
Thats it. There is nothing else worth mentioning. This manga has no redeeming qualities and its honestly not worth anyones time.
