Yeonwoos innocence is a romance drama manhwa with the usual shoujo tropes except flipped Yeonwoo is a frail man and haesol is a strong woman. I very much like the dynamic as it is a good step away from the usual tropes. Yeonwoo is very far from your average male lead. He is not strong emotionally or physically he is dependent on his friend junghyuk and at the start haesol thought he was a woman. This is good writing. He is a very flawed male lead and haesol is also a somewhat flawed Female lead due to her difficulty to show her emotions. We are shown early on that yeonwoo has trauma and a lot of it too. While not clear at the start it gets exposed through the course of the story. He is very fragile emotionally mentally at the start due to trauma which is realistic. Trauma in real life makes you a shell of who you once were before the event and so does it in this story. The story delves into yeonwoos trauma and has a LOT of suicidal thoughts. If youve had suicidal ideation before then you will heavily relate to yeonwoo at certain points in the story. Not to say this is a bad thing. Its a good thing just bear it in mind. The fact that a story can make you feel sick to the stomach and put yourself in his position is amazing and scary at the same time. His thoughts and actions are very real and so are everyone elses. I find this manhwa to be a very dramafilled manhwa but its romance is also peak too. Thats the main reason I started reading in the first place. For the romance and it does good It does it very well. It feels like everyone in the story is a real human being. So props to the author for that. The themes it delves into like bullying dependency are very serious issues in korea and possibly other parts of the world but im sure korea has it worse. This manhwa does NOT hold back on its drama. Multiple times in the story it punches you in the gut. The romance is nice. Yeonwoo and haesol work really well together and they are a very sweet couple though it might not look like it at the start. I believe the drama is one of the things that have the most pull in the story. The series is reaching its conclusion soon but I believe this to be one of the best romance/drama out there along with maybe the dangers in my heart peak romcom and kubosan wont let me be peak romcom and a couple others. Tho maybe this one and the dangers in my heart are the best ones? The dangers in my heart is very similar to this but not dramafilled. So if you want one without heavy drama then try that. Overall I would recommend yeonwoos innocence for romance fans who are into RR Reversed roles or into the guy being more submissive or the female being more dominant. If you are a manly man and do not like to see a man be open and weak or have problems empathizing then this is probably not for you. If you have SEVERE suicidal ideation or problems with bullying this is not GOOD for you. Its VERY VERY VERY well written yes so much so that the topics it delves into resonates deeply with most of its readers. So do tread with caution if you have suffered from any of those as mentioned above. Id also recommend this if you are into reading well written stories even when you may nto fully relate to the male lead and his submissive traits. This is a very good RR thats sure to be a classic and very underrated too. 100/100. Some people might consider it a fullon romance but I think this is very dramaheavy. I had a hard time digesting it but it was very good still. Good romance
