Im new to this wuxia and cultivation stuff. Ive read a few Chinese webcomics before but not enough to be that familiar with those terms. So to me this was actually really interesting and new. For someone very familiar maybe they might not find it as interesting. I am not certain. The premise on Anilist is a bit misleading. It is very true that the two of them arent really focusing on the conspiracies brewing around them and have their own goals that take much higher priority but the rest of it doesnt really fit how the show flows. This is very much a show centered around Linger and Yuxiu on a journey. But not the slow sort and its really more like this is the beginning of the real journey. It feels much like a prologue to something grander. Theres a lot of action but therere also scenes where it slows down. I believe only two episodes lacked a fight scene. The combat was enjoyable I thought. And where the animation quality is definitely at its highest. Speaking of that in the beginning it is very very poor. But as the season goes on it gets steadily better. Never really what I would consider good but it does improve. The first episode and maybe the second episode almost feels like a picture book. But things really do improve as it goes on. Possibly due to how the episodes were not weekly and the technique may have been improved as it continued on. The art itself is visually appealing and the character designs are all distinct and have a flavor of their own. The main leads as well have a very complimentary sort of look that lends to fun scenes throughout. Speaking of the main leads they really do have some great chemistry. I am desparately hoping the tags arent lies like they tend to be on this site but this season defintiely setup much potential for the two of them to go beyond just friends in the future. You can tell the both of them care very dearly about each other. But whether it will fully embrace that or not in season 2 I do not know as of writing this review as I have just finished season 1. But expect some great moments throughout especially once it nears the end of season 1 As for the story itself I found it engaging and found myself wanting to learn more and more about the world and the organizations. I of course wanted the most to learn more about Linger and Yuxiu but they do a good job of creating the right amount of hook for different organizations. They also have a lot of characters while a few get hte most screentime in this season including a certain rich boy. I will say there is zero reason to worry about him getting inbetween Linger and Yuxiu. But I do hope he eventually finds someone. Has some adorkable moments and doesnt deserve to be alone. Also the ED covers characters that are not in season 1 too so should be interesting to see what theyre like. I think this chaotic review has probably hit a stopping point. I really do recommend anyone lookinig for a yuritext action adventure with a cute and slippery thief MC and her mysterious and whimsical white haired friend who is much stronger than she appears give this a go. I also recommend anyone looking for a different sort of flavor to their yuri and that hasnt yet been too heavily exposed to the wuxia genre to definitely at least go for season 1. Its a very different sort of experience than all the Japanime out there. Heres hoping to season 2 being even better and a season 3 being a possibility in the near future
