This review contains spoilers Poorly made show that wastes too much time on bad slice of life instead of elaborating on the core narrative/mystery. All of the characters are bland and boring and the overarching mystery that they kept dangling was the only thing keeping me going. Theres a whole bunch of elements that felt like they werent properly explored like Michirus vision thingy what was the deal with Ichikas red eyes why did Sei even give her the Djinn charm knowing what would have been the consequences whatever was up with Ichikas trial being decided and told to her parents before she was even born anything about the djinns or well literally anything about world building. The djinns power usage situations have some build up in the early episodes but later on they just start to feel haphazard after a while as if they couldnt think of any good reasons to make Ichika use the powers and just went lets make her lose control of her own body with no elaboration as to why. The romance/love triangle subplots are cringe and make the story even worse. I do like that theres a new transformation and dress for Ichika in each episode though. Not sure what to even feel about Satsuki being revealed to have been sexually assaulted in the past or that weirdly abusive relationship shown in episode 2. The final revelation wasnt even good either. Apparently the antagonist was just testing Ichika and before her Sei for some lame ass question about whether to kill all of humanity or kill herself based on dumb philosophical ideas. Like its a fatally flawed quiz. Its hardly even Ichikas fault that she had to do whatever she did and hating herself as a result. If Manatsu had never shown up from the mirror or Saya had never made her lose control she wouldnt even have any reason to hate herself cause its more or less established that shes a good kid. She had no fucking choice but to lie about things regarding Manatsu and she never wanted to do anything she did while she had lost control. Killing all of humanity just because they have the seven vices is a seriously uninteresting idea because its extreme black and white thinking. All in all it didnt feel worth the wait at all. We did get a platonic kiss at the end so theres that I guess. Not that it matters much when I couldnt get myself to care about Manatsu or Ichika or their friendship. The end message of human beings not being limited to what they appear as currently because people have the capacity to better themselves is a good one. But it doesnt make up for the rest of it being sucky. Just watch Yuki Yuna is a Hero instead.
