Tenseisha no Watashi ni Idonde Kuru Mubou de Yubou na Shoujo no Hanashi or About the Reckless Girl Who Kept Challenging a Reborn Man Like Me is a story that means a lot to me. Despite its short length it maximizes every word and is a powerful and emotional light novel that dives into some relatable problems. This LN primarily focuses on the contrast of genius and average. The main character Zeke is a completely average person who travels back in time to when he was a kid. He then meets Anya the female protagonist who is a certifiable genius. The development of the relationship of Zeke and Anya and Zekes own turmoil is the focus of the LN. The story focuses on the harsh reality of effort even years of experience and hard effort is meaningless against extraordinary genius. At the start Zeke effortlessly beats Anya it isnt even close. However as they go through the stages of life Zeke slowly realizes he cant keep up with Anya more and more. The transition to the ending where that harsh reality hits like a truck is just so relateable and heart wrenching. Especially with the conversation of Zeke and Anya afterwards. Its a perfect climax to the story and really converts all the buildup to a tearjerking scene. I will knock off some points on this LN for a few reasons however its not perfect. I feel Zekes character is very good but Anyas character is not well explored enough. Obviously the short nature of this book is going to have limitations but still I find that the weakest part of this story. Anya doesnt feel like a very complex character and its disappointing as she has so much potential. It feels as if her purpose is to be the genius thats only purpose is to be a foil to Zeke. I want her to be a character who we can also feel and appreciate just like Zeke. I also feel like the relationship between Anya and Zeke could be explored more too like maybe more emotional conversations between them. We just skip to them being married I would appreciate maybe a little exploration on the romance or even Anya comforting Zeke more. The LN mostly just focuses on Zeke a lot more then Anya. But overall I would rate this LN very highly. The way time travel is utilized is creative and for just one volume this LN packs so much emotion and story into it. And I would bet good money 99 of people would shed at least one tear for the ending. This LN is definitely worth the read if youre looking for something short and sweet. I would not reccomend this novel to anyone who is looking for a story with more depth to it this really just focusses on that one aspect of genius vs average and tells it to perfection. Its also worth noting I am only talking about the first volume. All 3 volumes of this story are different stories with no relation to each other. I find volume 1 to be my favorite.
