At first I thought this anime about a mangaka only uses it setting to have a place for the characters to be but to my surprise it uses it setting really well and combined it with a lovely cast mostly good humor and handfull reality checks you get a really good slice of life show about support and struggle in an adult work life. Yes a mangakas worklife in this anime is probably a romantized and a harmless representation of reality but for a slice of life anime show it still worked really well in being authentic and entertaining with its humor as well with showing some serious moments too. The protagonist Nana Futami is the prime example. She is a bocchi archetype character and most jokes with her comes from her personality but on the same time we see her struggle in being a mangaka. How she has trouble with deadlines and meetings or suffered under her former editor felt authentic. But not only her struggle but from the other characters too. Hazama who hasnt a high selfesteem about her skills as a mangaka and literally ran away from her first mangaka job Nashida who sufferd of loneliness and anxiety because her manga ended or Nagomi who struggles with prejudices because she draws adult manga. All those problems those characters have makes them more personal and real. The best part however is how the characters are reacting to each other problems: with lots of support and love. And that is the main element of the story. In every episode we see how much they care for each other and doing their best to provide support and help. The best execution lies within the mangaka Futami her assistant Hazama and her editor Sato. I freaking love them. Hazama is the best assistant in the world and the voice of reasoning for Futami. Futami has problems with... well almost everything so Hazama not only works as an mangaka assistant but as a personal too and gives Futami a push for meetings and events she gives her advice with people she rebukes Futami if she does something silly but is still there for here if it matters. Sato on the other hand is the wife. Like seriously she is so hot and her angel voices makes her even more attractive I want to marry her instantly. In combination with her lovely and wholesome personality she is the perfect supporter you can get. She saw the talent in Futami early on and tries her best to support her even though she struggles a bit with clear communications. But thats her hole charme and I love it when she blushes. Then there is Futami and she is in my opinion one of the best bocchilike characters I have seen so far. She is not always an anxious creature like I mentioned earlier but she has also a professional side I reall adore. She can function normally in her own way when it is about her work. Scenes where she collects new informations for her shogi manga or when she comes up with new ideas makes her look so cool and is also fitting for an adult. As an adult myself who can relate to this character archetype I love to see a grown up for once being a social mess but still finds their way in this world. In addition her voice actress did a fantastic job showing both sides of Futami. Her anxious voice and her calm locked in voice are so different but the perfect execution to represent Futamis emotions. Moreover Futami might be the most supportive character in this show. She gets a lot of support but she gives so much love back. For example how she provides a job for Hazama how she accompanied Nashida how she was amazed by Nagomis work or how she helped a deaf fan of her manga with her sign languages skills. While Hazama is the best friend and Sato is the best wife Futami is the best character in this show of how diverse but in character her personality is. Her smile when she talks about her work or helps someone else is a treasure. It was so much fun following her career and she deserved every positive achievement. Although I think the overall cast is pretty good I havent enjoyed the episodes with the focus on side characters not that much like with the main characters. They were good but not on the same level in my opinion. In addition the jokes around Nashida werent my cup of tea or beer to be precise. But still the anime provides a reall good level from start to finish in my opinion. In the end A Mangakas Weirdly Wonderful Workplace is a romantized yet authenic life of a mangaka with solid humor some fitting serious topics and lots of love support and wholesomeness which makes it a great slice of life experience.
