This series was not only adorable but also surprising deep. The way the kingdom is outlined reminded me of attack on titan I would honestly advise people who both love the themes of AOT but finds the show to be a little to gory to watch this instead The animation itself was good and portrayed the fluffiness of animals well but its not really anything crazy like demon slayer level animation its like mid tier. Not bad not good. I love the opening and closing songs as i feel like it has a very innocent and childlike happiness to them which really sums up how Nemma is as a character Pure hearted and loves animals. I think that for a 12 episode season they actually managed to manage the huge cast of characters quite well but I wouldve loved if we seen some back story for any of the characters really. One example being the leader of the kobolds backstory of how she lost her tribe and how she grew close the the wolf kid. Additionally I feel like the series wouldve been better if they focused on one endangered group only in this season. That way they can focus more on developing the characters and highlighting just how much humans have impacted their way of life and how they are defected versions of humans. quoted from the goblin dude Because from my pov while the globins most of them cant do any of those magical stuff and their intelligence is lower than humans the kobolds seem to be on par with the humans in this world so what exactly makes them lesser than? Moreover why would the people discriminate the kobolds in the first place which made them leave their own and potentially made them violent towards humans? While I understand that it can not be fully developed in one season alone I wished they wouldve at least foreshadowed it or made it like a rhetorical question that Nemma or the others asked amongst themselves. I really love how they portrayed the theme of humanity in this series and I feel like the message of not discriminating people just because we dont understand them was brought out brilliantly. Moreover I like how the prince told Nemma not to look away because this was the path she chose. I think that encapsulates the weight that comes with being a leader and how no matter how painful things get you have to stay strong as a leader. While the politics of the show was handled quite well I feel like season 1 is just like an introduction the show and thus theres not enough content for me to give it a high rating especially since theres still so much plot and intrigue thats left. Moreover I found the kobolds reaction to Nemma to be a little unnatural. I feel like there would at least be a few who would plot to kill Nemma which could also further highlight the burden of being a leader and I wouldve loved to see how Nemma overcome this as well. Overall this series was well done and I wouldnt mind watching or consuming more of the content in this series thats available but also its not the best thing ever made hence its rating.
