I regret that I only read it now. For a while I had reservations about it being labeled as gory but its not something that was negatively portrayed. It could have been longer I would have liked to know more about the protagonists relationship but on the other hand I think we got enough and it fits the story.
Regarding the characters:
Im a big fan of the main protagonist shes not a flat and perfect character she has her flaws and strengths which give her depth. Im glad that a character who aspires to be incredibly strong independent and tough is also shown from a weaker side. Simply showing her psyche and her state in the past and present is a good touch.
Im glad that her lover was portrayed the way she was. The fact that she haunts the protagonist throughout the story highlights the complexity of seolahs psyche. The antagonists arent flat either they are people with mental health issues but Im glad that their actions werent justified by this.
LBGTQ+ Theme:
The fact that a key figure in the police department is queer and cant admit it because of her position is a key part of the manga. I like that this issue is presented from both her and her partners perspectives. It also highlights the existence of homophobia in the world which makes their functioning difficult. Theres also the suspicion that the crime itself was committed out of homophobia. I think this unfortunately accurately portrays the feelings of queer people and as a lesbian I feel represented in some way.
Art Style:
Its not a typical manga but I like it its welldone and fits the events. The colors are also good they add to the tension thats constantly present. The fact that the colors shift from warm to cool during the flashbacks with Hara perfectly captures Seolahs feelings for her.
The story is heavy very heavy. It forced me to reflect which I consider a big plus.
Overall I really liked it as I said I regret not having read it earlier and I hope I will find something similar
