I binged this in about an hour because the initial concept hooked me well I had high hopes for a social commentary on the patriarchy and how women uphold it by seeking power themselves or something similar. I was really happy that the main couple both being balanced in masculine and feminine traits they felt like equals in terms of gender presentation something Ive yet to see be done with two masc main characters. I really liked that in the one intimacy scene we get of them at the end lol theyre both riba despite Sakura getting demoted to an eve which annoyed me. The mangaka has a very pretty style and the way they draw the female form is honestly the main reason the ranking isnt low.
Overall: The story felt very rushed with characters emotions and backstories not getting much if any elaboration on. I really liked the dynamic between Aoi and Sakura both the friendly competition between them as well as the scene of them holding hands on the way to the bathroom together. That was my favourite scene I think it was extremely cute and made it seem like they felt free to express both masculine and girly traits when together it was all just them being silly natural. However I dont feel like I actually know anything about them other than generic traits like grumpy cat short haired and cheery cat long haired at least Aoi kinda got a backstory as an orphan but with Sakura theres nothing.
I also wish the side characters got at least a chapter to understand their motives Momiji was hyped up to be a threat to the main pairing but we dont actually learn about her. I was interested in learning what she enjoys about Aoi why she tried so hard to pursue him how is her life as a commoner etc. The eve social class is described as lesser and that being demoted to one is a punishment but we dont know anything about them. When paired with the general sidelining of all the side characters it feels unfair to feminine girls. I did like that Momiji and Erika ended up together or at least I think they did nothing really gets explained in this manga. Speaking of Erika I was really excited for her to have an arc about her resentment towards adams this could have been a powerful story about how
Aoi was introduced as a hero that wants to start a revolution in this society yet doesnt actually fail or succeed at this at all his goal is supposedly going to be accomplished by someone else which is really unsatisfying. Theres no sense of gain or loss in the ending. Handing their societys fate over to a character thats existed for one chapter is bad writing.
