Writing a review for Garupa Pico is certainly a strange experience due to the shows format. I thought it would be pretty hard to review a series with largely disconnected episodes that are each only 3 minutes long however I found the experience a lot more interesting than I initially believed. First things first the art for the show is absolutely adorable. Every character looks wonderful in the chibi style and the way the show is animated is extremely cute on top of that. I personally think my favorite designs are Kaorus and Tomoes. They are two of the more matureappearing characters in the game and anime and I they manage to make even them look adorable. The music is largely the exact same music that plays during the game which is a pretty funny experience to notice at several points during the show. However the theme song is the one original piece of music for the anime and its awesome. I really enjoyed getting to hear several bands work together on a song and I think it comes together really well. On the topic of the main theme Im a huge fan of how so many sections of the theme are references to events during the show. Rimi throwing choco cornets Tae trying to play her guitar with her teeth and Saya using three drumsticks for example are all events in the show and the way the opening references them is super cute. My biggest surprise while watching the show is how interconnected a lot of the episodes are. I initially thought every episode would be a selfcontained story however almost all of them are actually connected to either the performance in episode 13 or the joint concert in episode 26. Another aspect of the show that I think is excellent is that you get to watch members of different bands interact with one another. There is an entire episode dedicated to all of the drummers of the five main bands meeting up and just talking. Its incredibly cute and just really cool to see these characters interact in a way which isnt seen too much in the main series. The comedy is super lighthearted and nothing is really ever taken seriously and I think that only helps the series because it understands that at its core thats exactly what it is. Theres a lot of super wholesome interactions along the way as well that are oddly touching in spite of how unserious the series is. In short I believe that if you enjoyed BanG Dream and want a series that is lighthearted this is absolutely a perfect way to go. Its funny adorable and just a great time overall while also having a surprising amount of interconnectivity between the episodes due to its two large anchor episodes.
