before i start this review I was really high while watching this just wanted you guys too know lol. ALRIGHT.. so this anime was different than other rom coms I usually watch and make reviews about and thats why Im making a review on it lol. I personally did love watching this show but i do have some problems with it which i will be discussing about in my review so lets get into it https://c.tenor.com/QvoEktuXuIAAAAC/lovelycomplexanime.gif PLOT/STORY.. ok so lets so a quick rundown of the story real quick skip this if u havent watched/read this show. so pretty much this girl Risa is your typical high school student but theres a quirk in the story that shes wayy taller than the other girls and shes having love problems. and here comes in our other character Ootani. now heres the funny part hes wayy shorter than her and they are always fighting with each other which people commonly refer to them as a comedy duo. now personally Ive seen a few animes where the main couple fight with each other and later on get together its not particularly a fresh theme but heres the thing the entire show Risa our main girl really likes Ootani while Ootani likes them being friends he doesnt have any romantic feelings for her. so pretty much 75 of the ENTIRE STORY is spent on her trying to become his girlfriend. but heres the thing. within the first 8 episodes Risa actually confesses her feelings quite bluntly so at first I thought they were gonna get together have some cute moments maybe have some drama then cool anime over but NAWW the entire anime is filled with Ootani being a pimp and giving her the cold shoulder and rejecting her but also leading her on with small comments and actions that make Risa keep falling in love with him. but in episode 18 they actually do end up together and have a few cute moments together but nothing really comes out of it later on in the story they have a miscommunication about few things and Ootani believed that Risa was cheating on him but that was quickly resolved but they never really have moments together were it shows that they are actually bf and gf its just one big comedy that never really takes itself serious unless they are having problems which is 99 of the story with her always crying and Ootani just being dumb and not understanding Risas feelings. we never truly see them develop. the story goes wayy too fast with the 24ish episodes spanning across 3 years of high school. they go through 3 Christmas episodes and multiple episodes of summer school and it doesnt really branch from that 90 of the episodes are literally Risa crying and Ootani rejecting her feelings. https://i.pin.com/originals/a5/f4/ca/a5f4ca694cb572a589fc72594a02e37f.gif CHARACTERS AND DEVELOPMENT alright so Im gonna keep this brief cuz I rambled in the last one but whatever. this show literally has no development the entire show is her chasing Ootani then finally getting him and kissing multiple times THATS IT. but I love it the characters are actually pretty funny. this is probably the one of the funniest anime Ive seen actually I laughed out loud quite a few times at the small things they say so thats a really big positive Ill it give that. and also the side characters are actually quite decent themselves they each dont get development of course but I felt like it didnt matter too much. the comedy duo act was quite refreshing I thought it was entertaining but I didnt like how it always focused on them too trying to communicate and fail instantly. it was pretty much Ootani giving mixed signals while Risa just didnt know what to do all the time but wanted to show him that she loves him. but after they become a couple nothing really happens they kissed like 3 times I reckon and didnt have any dedicated episodes to them developing their characters and farthing their romance such as other stories like horimiya and golden time but whatever the only reason why I got so invested in these character is because HOW STUPID THEY ARE OMG LIKE PLEASE OOTANI YOU OBVIOUSLY LOVE HER SO SHOW HER AND COMFORT HER OMDDDD. CONCLUSION yea honestly had a blast watching his high and watched it within 2 days. but the real question is would i recommend it. NO NEVER this story was so frustratingly sooo good i love this anime but hate it at the same time i got so invested into it from the start they did write Risa and Ootani really well and their dynamic is really funny but not enough to describe the agony and pain i experienced praying they would just kiss already like damn is that too hard to ask for :p but it was a very cute story and had some real charming moments from Ootani lol uhhhh 7.5/10 nice
