If someone were to tell you that there was a story out there that was a combination of aliens water world attack on titan and jaws you would probably say Whoa why havent I heard of this series before?. I had a similar reaction once I caught up to the latest chapters I happened to stumble upon this series since I recently started using Toomics a webtoons website/app.
The basic premise for the story is that the world has been submerged under water for many many years similar to the water world movie and remaining humans have to survive from leviathans sea monsters that live in the worlds oceans now. Our main characters are Bota and his sister who must learn to survive in this harsh world and the story kicks off once they meet another central character Kana who hunts down these leviathans. Im not going to spoil anything past this.
This is quite an amazing read. The story is relatively simple but what its aims to convey it does extremely well. It has a very survival/Action feel with a hint of horror and fantasy due to the leviathans think Jaws. The leviathans are very well drawn and can be truly creepy they designs have a very berserk feeling to it there are different species and each have they own unique capabilities. The action in this series is very well done and the how the humans fight the leviathans is quite creative. What stands out the most is the weight and the consequences of the story it is a rollercoaster ride that will have you at the edge of your seat not knowing how scenarios are going to play out. My only criticism of the show would be Kanas design which is very fan service heavy Which I have no issue with normally however it doesnt fit as she is the only character depicted like it feels a bit out of place in this particular story.
Overall one of the better shows ive read in recent years. It currently has 98 chapters which I flew through in a day and it feels like its truly going to kick into high gear and get into the main focus of the story very soon. Anyway I really hope people give this show a try it is a diamond waiting to be unearthed. Right now very few people seem to have this show on their radar and I hope that changes soon.
