The banner is from the last anime I loved 8/10+. Ratings reflect a mixture of enjoyment and subjective assessment: 10/10 Masterpiece The crme de la crme. Anime that are stupendously impactful be they making me think inducing intense euphoria or unceasing enjoyment. These top both enjoyment and assessment and transcend the medium in a way that makes watching anime worth it sheerly to recapture that feeling. The only two shows so far are Neon Genesis Evangelion and Puella Magi Madoka Magica. 9/10 Superlative Very close to a 10. These are either titles that I consider masterpieces yet didnt enjoy to that level or just anime that very closely approach masterpieces in both enjoyment and assessment. Still inimitable experiences that hold great sentimental value but they dont blow me away like masterpieces do. The only two titles so far are Initial D First Stage and Initial D Third Stage. 8/10 Great The threshold for something I love. Usually something that has a profound impact and I consider accomplished in some way be it narrative meaning or otherwise technical execution. Most favourites end up here since few anime affect me to such an extent. Examples include JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken: Diamond wa Kudakenai JoJos Bizzare Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei The Tatami Galaxy. 7/10 Very Good The threshold for something I really like. An exceptional show that manages to stand out and have some staying power. Few of them land in my favourites but they play a very significant role in my love for the medium. Theyre what keeps me going after slews of 4s and 5s. Examples include Clannad: After Story Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou His and Her Circumstances. 6/10 Good A solid show that I enjoyed either fully or in large part. Serves its purpose with few noticeable flaws. Often shows that could have been 7s but jump the shark at some point get this rating. Its always a good experience overall though and something Id recommend. Sometimes I give this rating to titles I feel are very accomplished but I derived little enjoyment out of. Examples include One Punch Man ARIA The ANIMATION. 5/10 Average/Decent The rating most of the shows I watch get. Usually something I enjoyed very little or not at all. A lot of the classics that I dont enjoy and scarcely appreciate land here. Often leaning toward good or bad. Not something I would condemn or endorse. Examples include Naruto: Shippuuden Cowboy Bebop. 4/10 Bad Poor to solidly bad. I usually derive some enjoyment out of these but very little. Anime that land here bore me are badly executed or I take issue with. My second most awarded rating and practically the sole negative rating I give out it represents a wide variety of disagreement. Examples include Mushishi Hotaru no Haka Grave of the Fireflies. 3/10 Very Bad Pretty much awful. Has very few redeeming qualities and is almost unfailingly a pain to watch. Anime that have nothing to congratulate usually land here as do most anime I highly disagree with. Examples include Hyouka Log Horizon. 2/10 Abysmal Practically as terrible as it gets. No redeeming qualities atrocious execution has little purpose in existing. A truly loathsome experience. Examples include Darling in the Franxx Fairy Tail. 1/10 Eye Cancer Titles I archly loathe. Torturous to sit through. A rare occurrence but commoner than in other media. Examples include One Room Pupa. Note: .5 ratings are given rarely only when Im truly in between the two ratings. 5.5 is between decent 5 and good 6 it doesnt distinguish the decent ones from the average ones. Its more common in manga because I dont like them as much basically. I dont read as much manga or enjoy them as much. I dont find them as immersive of an experience merely a faster one. I read manga that have been adapted into anime if the adaptation is ended and I want to read the rest of the story as an alternative way to rewatch an anime or if its something really large like Detective Conan and I dont want to invest the time it would take to watch it. Ill read some manga that has yet to be adapted too like one of my favourites: Oyasumi Punpun. Namely I almost exclusively read manga Ill like hence the odd rating spread. I dont bother to accurately portray the chapters read i.e. the chapter count represents the lastread chapter not the actual amount of read chapters.
